Bonswa from the Haiti team! We have reached our final destination at the Haitian Queen!
We started our day in the middle of the night, arriving at the airport around 3 a.m. for our 5 a.m. flight. After a smooth flight we landed in Miami and spent our layover drinking coffee, discussing devotionals, and running through the VBS plan. We also ate a team lunch, and made friends with the sweetest five-year-old at our gate while waiting to board. Our flight from Miami to Port-Au-Prince was also smooth. We sailed through customs and immigration with no major issues. Praise God!
Welcome to Haiti
The final part of our traveling was really where the rubber met the road. As we left the airport we were bombarded by the Haitian heat and humidity. The van was loaded with bags stacked high in the back and in our laps before setting off. After traveling about 20 miles in just over 2 hours, we arrived at our home for the week. From there we unloaded, shared a delicious meal, and debriefed the day. Then we cleaned up and sorted supplies before heading to our mosquito-netted beds.
While driving through the city, one of the biggest things that struck our team was the insane traffic. And how much we trusted our driver to navigate it. It’s amazing how beautiful Haiti and its people are. We’re also stuck by how much garbage is laying in the streets, yet the people are unaffected by it (because it’s their norm). We’re all ready and excited to set out on our adventure and see what God is going to teach us this week.

Prayer Requests
Please pray for continued team unity and bonding; safety; that we would shine the light of Jesus through everything we do. That we’d each be aware and receptive to what God is teaching us as we step out of our comfort zones and into what He is calling us to at this time.
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” – Colossians 2:6-7
