Today was our VBS day and our last day of health checks! It was a full and joyous day! We began the morning with three hours of VBS which FLEW by! The kids had worship, a lesson, games, crafts, snack and a few medical things. We had a ton of fun with it and I think the kids did too! After lunch we set up our health check stations to prepare for the bus of kids coming in the afternoon. We had some time before they arrived and spent that time talking and playing games with our team, it was a blast!
VBS in Haiti
At VBS today, the kids heard the story of Jesus forgiving and healing the paralyzed man. The Scripture passage (Mark 2:1-12) was read in Creole, then Kristina reiterated the story with some key emphases. After the message we prayed, the kids answered questions, and heard from one of the GlobalFingerprints program coordinators. The program coordinator explained to the kids how Jesus’ healings are different than those of the voodoo priests. This was a lesson for us Americans as well! The two main points of that talk were that 1) Jesus heals us in our soul, heart, and body; and 2) Jesus does not require any payment from us when He heals. He only wants us to trust Him. Amen!
Final day of health checks
The afternoon health checks flew by! We packed up just in time for the worship team to practice at the church we were in. When we got back home to the Haitian Queen, we ate supper, sang to 80’s music, cleaned up, and watched Poverty, Inc. I think I can safely say that our whole team would HIGHLY recommend that movie if you want to have a better understanding of poverty and the poverty industry.
We are all headed off to bed to get ready for church in the morning. We’re excited to hit the beach, go hiking, and have our taco night tomorrow!
Prayer Requests
Thank you for your ongoing prayers! Please pray specifically that the kids would remember the lesson they heard this morning and understand how it applies to their lives. That the kids who were given medicine (and their parents) would be responsible and remember to take it correctly. Please pray for the remainder of our trip and that we would continue to be lights for Jesus Christ.
