Like almost everyone else I know, I’m working from home. And, like almost everyone else I know, I have a lot of thoughts and opinions about what’s happening in America right now. However, my focus is elsewhere today, so that’s not what I’m going to write about. Instead, I’m going to share with you what I am focused on, which is what God has been uncovering for me. And, I won’t be too surprised if it happens to be the same thing that He is uncovering for everyone else. 🙂
Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog – it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.
-James 4:13-14
I see more truth in this scripture in this last month than I ever have in my life. And I believe that one of the things that God is doing with this time is allowing Americans time to focus on Him. To slow down. To restore relationships. To reconcile families. To heal wounds that wouldn’t otherwise even get our attention, much less our efforts to heal them. Here’s the thing about restoration, reconciliation, and healing: they require time and effort. They require conversation. They require repentance. They require forgiveness. And, most importantly, they require willingness and love.
Are you willing to do what it takes? Are you willing to ask God what it will take to restore, reconcile or heal whatever is broken in your life? Now is the time, because we never know how many more tomorrows we will have or what they will look like. I hope this resonates with you, church. I hope and pray that you’re willing to have an open heart and mind to what God has in store for you.
Lord, I see the truth in these verses now more than ever! Thank You for taking hold of this nation and reminding us that You, alone, are in full control. Bring people closer to You in this time and lead those of us who are Your Church into sharing the Truth of the gospel with the people You have placed in our lives. Help us to make the most of this time according to Your will. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Blessings,
Robin ♥
